Christmas Day Horror: Felicity Woman Attacked Protecting Her Dog

Share news:

In Felicity, Ohio, a disturbing incident unfolded on Christmas Day when a woman was attacked while trying to calm her barking dog. Jennifer Hopkins shared her harrowing experience, recounting how what began as an ordinary evening turned into a terrifying encounter.

It all started around 6 p.m. as Jennifer stepped outside to quiet her dog. A man walking by suddenly turned aggressive, threatening her in a shocking way. “He turned around and said I needed to shut up the dog before he stabbed the dog and me too,” she explained.

Determined to protect her pet, Jennifer placed herself between the man and the fence that kept her dog in the yard. What followed was a tense confrontation, with the man getting inches from her face, yelling aggressively. He walked away briefly but returned moments later to continue his tirade.

Things escalated quickly when the man punched Jennifer in the eye. She described her vision going dark as she felt herself being lifted off the ground before hitting the pavement hard. The fall left her with a 3-inch cut on her scalp and visible bruises around her left eye, injuries she was still recovering from days later.

Amid the chaos, a passerby stopped their car and stepped in to help. “When I picked up my head and they realized it was a female that he had on the ground, the gentleman in the car jumped out, and the attacker took off,” Jennifer recalled.

Authorities later identified the man as Daniel Cain Fondenberger. He was arrested the next day, on December 26, for assault. According to arrest records, his bond was set at $20,000.

Jennifer has since taken steps to protect herself, securing a protective order against Fondenberger. After visiting the hospital, she was told her injuries were mostly superficial, though she believes she may have suffered a concussion.

This frightening event has shaken the quiet town of Felicity, but thanks to the quick action of a concerned passerby, Jennifer feels a bit more at ease knowing help was there when she needed it most.
