A 22-year-old man in Pennsylvania, Logan Rapsinski, has been arrested after allegedly shooting his older brother during a heated incident on Christmas Eve. The shooting took place in Butler Township, leaving the family and the community stunned.

According to authorities, the Butler Township Police responded to a call around 10 p.m. on December 24, 2024, at a home on Crosslands Road. When officers arrived, they found Rapsinski’s 27-year-old brother lying outside, injured from a gunshot wound to the groin. The victim told police that his younger brother, Logan, had shot him.

Investigators said the evening had been tense. Logan had reportedly left the house earlier in an agitated state. Concerned about his behavior, the family contacted Butler County Crisis Service for help. Meanwhile, the victim, Logan’s brother, went out looking for him in the neighborhood.

The search didn’t take long. The victim found Logan sitting in his car on a nearby street. When he approached, things escalated quickly. Logan allegedly took out a .380 Smith & Wesson handgun, loaded it, and shot his brother once, hitting him in the groin. The victim fell to the ground, and Logan fled on foot.

Despite the chaos, Logan soon called 911 himself, leading officers to find and arrest him. Police discovered the handgun near the spot where Logan was taken into custody.

During questioning, Logan claimed he acted in self-defense. He told investigators that his brother, who was unarmed, threatened him and said he was going to “beat him up.” The victim reportedly asked, “Are you going to shoot me?” just moments before Logan fired the shot from about 14 feet away.

Logan is now facing serious charges, including attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He is being held at Butler County Jail and is set to appear in court on January 2, 2025, before Magisterial District Judge Keven P. O’Donnell.
