A man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Christmas Eve in Northeast Washington, D.C., with the driver abandoning the car and fleeing the scene on foot.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on December 24, near the intersection of Benning Road and 44th Street NE. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers responded to reports of a pedestrian hit by a car. Upon arrival, they found an unconscious adult male suffering from critical injuries. Despite prompt medical attention, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to MPD, the driver involved in the collision abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot before authorities arrived. The suspect is described as a male wearing dark clothing. The vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, has been impounded as evidence.
