A tragic incident on Christmas night shook the quiet community of Monroe, Georgia, leaving a woman dead and her husband injured. Police have arrested a family member in connection with the heartbreaking events.
It all began around 6:06 p.m. when authorities received a call about gunfire at 420 Maple Lane. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been fatally shot sitting in the front seat of an SUV. Her husband, who had also been shot, was quickly taken to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, he was treated and later released.
As investigators worked through the details, they identified 21-year-old Devin Sullivan, a relative of the victims, as the main suspect. Family members provided key information that led police to an apartment on Plaza Trace, where Sullivan was believed to be hiding. Armed with warrants for murder and a search, law enforcement called in a tactical team to help with the arrest.
The operation ended peacefully. Sullivan was taken into custody without any issues after the team entered the apartment. He is now being held at the Walton County Jail as the investigation moves forward.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims, and the case remains under active investigation. For the close-knit community of Monroe, this Christmas will be remembered for its sorrow and loss.
