On Friday morning, around 9:30 AM, in courtroom 420 of the Second District Court in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alexander Ortiz appeared before a judge, facing accusations of murdering Alianna Farfan. But suddenly, things took a violent turn. Carlos Lucero, Farfan’s uncle, jumped over the courtroom barrier and started punching Ortiz.
As the fight began, Ortiz and a police officer nearby were knocked to the ground. At this point, a second man named Pete Ysasi joined in, and the situation quickly escalated. Police say Joeray Ortiz, Alexander’s father, rushed to the scene to defend his son. He also started punching Lucero and Ysasi.
The chaos lasted for about a minute, with more people getting involved in the fight. It wasn’t until deputies stepped in to restore order that the situation calmed down. They handcuffed Lucero, Ysasi, and Joeray, while Ortiz was escorted out of the courtroom.
Lucero and Ysasi were both charged with several serious crimes, including battery against a police officer and assault on a jail employee. According to the criminal complaint, Lucero gave his reason for attacking Ortiz, saying, “He killed my niece like a coward,” and “It was worth every moment.” On the other hand, Joeray Ortiz told the officers that he was just trying to stop the fight and break it up.
The violent outburst in the courtroom shocked everyone involved. It’s not uncommon for emotions to run high in such cases, but the actions of Lucero, Ysasi, and Joeray added to the already tense atmosphere of the trial. Their actions have now led to legal consequences, with charges being pressed against them for their involvement in the brawl.
