It sounds like a story straight out of a movie — but this one’s all too real. A California couple went on a wild crime spree, robbing businesses across the state, and even took a quick break to get married in Las Vegas. But their honeymoon ended in handcuffs.
Antonio Lamar Bland, 36, and Abigail Luckey, 49, from North Hollywood, allegedly teamed up with 23-year-old Ronnie Tucker to pull off a string of armed robberies early last year. Their two-week spree started on January 29, 2024, and by February 14 — Valentine’s Day — the trio had hit 12 businesses, including nine 7-Eleven stores, a smoke shop, and a couple of doughnut shops.
While Bland and Tucker stormed into the stores in hoodies and face masks, Luckey reportedly played the role of getaway driver. But in the middle of their crime spree, the lovebirds decided to take a break. On February 6, they drove to Las Vegas, got hitched, and were back robbing stores just two days later.
Their last job didn’t go as planned. On Valentine’s Day, they allegedly tried to rob a doughnut shop in Downey — but this time, an employee fought back. The worker pulled out a gun and fired a shot, sending Bland and Tucker running. Law enforcement, who had been keeping a close eye on the group, quickly caught up with them and arrested all three. A gun was found in their car.
Now, more than a year later, the trio has been hit with a long list of federal charges, including conspiracy, robbery, and weapons offenses. If found guilty, they each face serious time — up to 20 years for the robbery charges alone. Bland and Tucker could face even more time for the firearms charges, and Bland’s past felony convictions could add even more years to his sentence.
The three have been in federal custody since their arrest, and they’re set to go to trial on May 6. What started as a crime spree turned wedding celebration has turned into a legal nightmare — and this real-life drama is far from over.
