In a troubling incident on the Miami Beach Boardwalk, a man named Rasheed Jones, 49, was arrested after allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl. This happened on December 30, 2024, while the girl was out for a walk with her mother near Fifth Street.
According to reports, Jones reached out and brushed against the girl’s buttocks in a way that was both intentional and inappropriate. When the girl turned to confront him, he reportedly put his finger to his lips, signaling her to be quiet.
The girl’s mother quickly stepped in to confront Jones, but he fled the scene. Fortunately, several bystanders who witnessed the encounter alerted nearby police officers.
Although Jones managed to escape initially, the mother reported the incident, and surveillance cameras captured not only the alleged act but also Jones seemingly celebrating afterward by skipping and dancing.
Later that evening, police issued a be-on-the-lookout notice for Jones, and he was apprehended. The victim was able to identify him, leading to his formal arrest. It turns out that Jones is a convicted sex offender with a history of offenses dating back to 1995.
Currently, he is being held at the Metro West Detention Center on a $25,000 bond, facing serious charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between the ages of 12 and 16, which is a felony.
This incident has raised concerns in the community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safety in public spaces.
