A tragic shooting took place outside a driver’s license office in Louisville, Kentucky, leaving three people dead. Witnesses described a terrifying scene as masked gunmen attacked one of the victims multiple times before running away.
Victims Identified
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victims were an 18-year-old man and two women, aged 33 and 29. The man, identified as Leslye M. Harbin Jr., was shot multiple times and died at the scene. The two women, Antwanette Chillers and Raysa Pacios Valdes, were taken to a hospital but did not survive.
Witness Accounts
People waiting in line outside the driver’s license office were shocked as gunfire erupted. Witness Jalen Eddings said he had gone back to his car to avoid the long line when he saw two masked men shoot Harbin multiple times, even after he fell to the ground.
“I was in shock,” Eddings said. “It felt like something out of a movie.”
Another witness, Ali Raza, was inside the office when the shooting began. He recalled hearing multiple gunshots and people screaming.
Police Investigation
Louisville Metro Police officers arrived quickly at the scene. One man was already dead, and two injured women were rushed to the hospital. Police Major Donald Boeckman said the suspects fled in a vehicle, but officers have not yet identified them. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage for more information.
“It’s a tragedy,” Boeckman said. “It’s surprising that more people weren’t hurt.”
Response from Officials
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear called the shooting a “senseless act of violence.” The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which runs the licensing office, confirmed that the building was locked down immediately after the incident. Fortunately, no employees were harmed.
Community Concerns
The shooting has left the community shaken, as many people visit the license office daily for essential services. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and help with the investigation.
As police continue their search for the suspects, residents are hoping for justice and increased security to prevent such tragedies in the future.
