Police in Crawfordsville, Indiana, are searching for a local woman and her infant son, who have been missing for over a week. Authorities are asking the public to help find 28-year-old Lindsey Cox, who was last reported seen with her boyfriend, John Byrer, and their 7-month-old baby boy, also named John.
Lindsey was first reported missing by her family on December 2. On the same day, Crawfordsville Police detectives were able to reach her over the phone. After speaking with her, they temporarily removed her from the missing persons list, letting her family know she was safe.
However, concerns resurfaced when her family contacted the police again on December 7, worried about both Lindsey and the baby. This prompted officers to reinstate her status as a missing person, with initial reports indicating she might be in northern Indiana.
Now, police believe Lindsey, John, and their son may have traveled out of state. Despite being listed as missing, Lindsey has contacted the Crawfordsville Police Department several times, most recently on December 10, when an officer encouraged her to visit a nearby police department for a wellness check.
In a statement on December 11, Crawfordsville police assured the public that they are working closely with other law enforcement agencies to track new leads. They also said Lindsey’s family is being updated regularly.
The police haven’t shared detailed descriptions of Lindsey or her baby, but they’ve released a photo to help with the search.
