A man is in custody after allegedly entering a Subway restaurant in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, and removing a blowtorch from his coat on Wednesday, according to the Dodgeville Police Department. Authorities responded around 4 p.m. to 1400 State Highway 23 after reports of a robbery.
Police reported that the suspect entered the restaurant wearing a hat and mask, asking if a manager was present. He then allegedly locked the door and revealed the blowtorch while approaching a staff member. After making the threat, the man claimed it was a joke, removed his mask, and left. Later that day, around 4:45 p.m., police located and apprehended him.
The suspect faces charges including attempted armed robbery, bail jumping, and false imprisonment. He is scheduled for a bond hearing on Thursday.
