In Zephyrhills, Florida, two men were arrested following a shooting incident at a drive-thru convenience store last week, police shared on Tuesday.
The incident happened on Friday morning, around 10:55 a.m., at the In and Out Drive Thru located at 5058 Gall Boulevard. Officers from the Zephyrhills Police Department were called to the scene after reports of a possible shooting.
According to the police, a vehicle with four people inside entered the drive-thru. While one person in the car was getting ready to pay, a gun in the back seat accidentally went off. The bullet struck the person sitting in the passenger seat, causing injuries. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening.
After investigating, police identified two men involved in the situation—19-year-old Angel Josue Rodriguez and 20-year-old Jonathan Xavier Rivera. Both were taken into custody.
Rodriguez is facing several charges, including carrying a concealed firearm, culpable negligence, and improper exhibition of a firearm. Rivera, on the other hand, is charged with tampering with evidence and carrying a concealed firearm.
Thankfully, this unfortunate incident didn’t result in more serious injuries, but it serves as a reminder of the dangers of mishandling firearms.
