Philadelphia, PA – A deadly confrontation outside a North Philadelphia sports bar early Sunday morning left one man dead after he was shot by a security guard, police said.
The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on the 3400 block of North 2nd Street. Officers responded to reports of an armed individual outside the bar and arrived to find a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 3 a.m.
According to the initial investigation, the victim had been inside the bar but was removed by security. Shortly after, he allegedly returned armed with a gun. Security personnel confronted him, leading to the fatal shooting, police said.
The homicide unit is now investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased or details about the security guard involved.
