A Texas family is grieving after a father of three was tragically killed on his way home from work. Robert Schorovsky, 37, had just finished a shift installing Christmas lights at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston when he was shot while driving along a busy interstate.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. on December 2. Houston police responded to reports of a crash and found Schorovsky critically injured inside his truck. Investigators say he had been shot at least once. His wife, Brittany Ray, shared her disbelief about the incident. “We’re all in shock. It’s been rough. Just one gunshot—no holes in the truck, no windows shot out. Just the one,” she told local media.
Schorovsky was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital by the Houston Fire Department but sadly died from his injuries.
He leaves behind three children, aged 9, 11, and 14. Known as a devoted family man, Schorovsky’s obituary described him as someone who loved spending time with his family and creating lasting memories.
“If he wasn’t working, you might find him fishing at the neighborhood pond to clear his mind,” the obituary said. He enjoyed outdoor adventures with his kids, like hiking, bike riding, and traveling, and was proud of his ability to fix just about anything—including his beloved white Chevy truck.
Schorovsky also had a soft spot for his wife, Brittany. “His focus was on making and keeping Brittany happy, even riding roller coasters with her even though he hated them,” his obituary added. “He loved with all his heart and enjoyed helping those around him when he could.”
Right now, there are no known suspects or witnesses in this heartbreaking case. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be shared with the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
Schorovsky’s death has left a hole in the lives of his family and friends, and they’re now hoping for justice and answers in the days ahead.
