Kissimmee, Florida — A shocking incident has come to light in Osceola County, where authorities have arrested a couple after a man allegedly subjected a child to nearly half an hour of abuse over a missing couch cushion.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office shared that the troubling event took place on December 7. Officials claim that 42-year-old Lance Rachel Sr. became furious over a missing cushion and accused the child of lying. In a fit of rage, Rachel allegedly spent 28 minutes yelling and physically punishing the child.
Investigators revealed that Rachel used a belt to strike the child more than 50 times. He also reportedly choked the child, hurled insults, and even threatened to break their jaw. Some of these horrifying moments were captured on the family’s home surveillance cameras.
On December 16, detectives spoke with Rachel before arresting him. He now faces serious charges, including aggravated child abuse and battery by strangulation. Meanwhile, his wife, Kimberly Rachel, was also arrested, accused of failing to report the abuse. Both are being held in the Osceola County Jail.
Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between the couple and the victim, but the incident has sparked outrage in the community. The case highlights the importance of reporting and preventing child abuse, ensuring children are safe from harm in their own homes.
