A Florida school bus driver is facing serious trouble after being accused of pulling a young boy’s hair and allowing him to be bullied. The Miami Police Department has charged 34-year-old Lazaro Treminio with child abuse and child neglect. The boy involved is just six years old.
According to police, the incident began when Treminio stepped into a spat between his daughter and the boy. The boy’s older sister had stepped in to prevent the argument from turning physical. But instead of resolving the situation peacefully, Treminio reportedly told the boy to “never touch his daughter” and then pulled his hair. This alleged incident happened on the afternoon of November 20, 2024, somewhere along Northwest Seventh Street in Miami.
The six-year-old, described by police as “very articulate,” later told investigators about the incident. Police say he could clearly explain what happened and differentiate between truth and lies. The boy shared what happened with his parents, who reported the situation to the police on November 21.
This wasn’t the first troubling event the boy experienced on the bus. He said he had been bullied repeatedly and claimed that, at least once, Treminio encouraged other kids to bully him. In one incident, another child reportedly slammed him to the floor, causing him to hit his head.
The boy’s 10-year-old sister backed up his account, telling investigators she witnessed the hair-pulling and other instances where her brother was body-slammed by bigger kids. She also said Treminio warned her not to tell their parents about what was happening.
On Thursday, police arrested Treminio during a traffic stop. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he was being held on a $7,500 bond. Jail records, however, didn’t show his name as of Friday.
During his first court appearance, Treminio stood before Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer. Authorities continue to investigate the situation, but further details from the Miami Police Department weren’t immediately available at the time of reporting.
The allegations have raised concerns among parents and community members, with many questioning how a trusted school bus driver could be involved in such incidents.
