Twin brothers from Florida, both in their late 60s, have been arrested after being accused of sexually abusing victims over several years, according to authorities.
Donald Ray Hawkins and Ronald Gene Hawkins, both 67 years old, are now facing serious charges related to the alleged abuse. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office shared the news on Facebook, revealing that the brothers were arrested on January 14. Donald was taken into custody in Washington County, while Ronald was arrested in Brevard County, where he lives. Ronald is expected to be extradited to Washington County to face the charges alongside his brother.
Officials have charged Donald with sexual assault on a victim under the age of 12. He is currently being held at the Washington County Jail without bail and is set to appear in court on February 3. Ronald, on the other hand, has been charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim less than 12 years old. He remains in custody at the Brevard County Jail, also without bail, and is scheduled for a court hearing on January 23.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the age of the alleged victims, authorities have not shared many details about the charges. However, they did state that the accusations span several years, with the Hawkins brothers allegedly committing these crimes on numerous occasions.
Investigators have already interviewed some of the victims and gathered enough evidence to issue arrest warrants in both counties. At this time, law enforcement has not disclosed how many victims are involved or where the incidents took place.
