A man from Hammond, Indiana, wanted for the tragic shooting of his ex-wife, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on Chicago’s Near West Side.
Allen Oscar Woods, 39, had been on the run since December 27, when he allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife, Tiffany Woods. Authorities say Allen shot Tiffany multiple times before fleeing the area.
After the incident, Woods left Indiana and made his way to Chicago, trying to avoid getting caught. But his escape didn’t last long. On Wednesday, around 3:30 p.m., authorities received a tip about someone who looked like Woods near the 1200 block of South Canal Street. Acting quickly, members of the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force teamed up with Chicago police to track him down.
The search led them to a business in the 1400 block of South Canal Street. Inside, they found Woods and took him into custody without further incident.
The U.S. Marshals Service had been leading the effort to locate Woods after the heartbreaking death of Tiffany, which shocked the local community. Thanks to teamwork and quick action, they were able to bring him in to face justice.
