A dramatic scene unfolded at a gas station in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on February 7, where a man’s erratic behavior spiraled into a chaotic police chase. The suspect, 34-year-old Jordon Vasquez, now sits in the Bernalillo County Jail, facing several charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest.
It all started at the gas station, where a frustrated employee called the police after Vasquez allegedly caused trouble. According to her, he had no money but was trying to get cigarettes. When she stopped him from grabbing them off the counter, he reportedly threatened her, saying, “Girl, don’t make me go back there.” Then, things escalated—he went behind the counter and stole the cigarettes anyway.
Witness footage captured Vasquez lounging in his vehicle in the parking lot, feet up, acting as if nothing had happened. He even got into an argument with a bystander while waiting for the police to arrive. When officers showed up, Vasquez jumped into action—not to cooperate, but to make his escape. Before taking off, he backed his car into a police cruiser, leaving onlookers shocked.
“He just hit the freaking cop’s car!” a woman can be heard saying in the footage.
The chase didn’t last long. Police bodycam footage shows officers quickly tracking him down. Vasquez tried to flee into a nearby restaurant, but his attempt to hide didn’t work. Officers caught up with him, took him to the ground, and handcuffed him.
Now, Vasquez faces a long list of charges, including aggravated fleeing from law enforcement and obstructing officers. This wild incident is just the latest in a series of events that keep Albuquerque police on their toes.
