It has been 18 years since Randi Gorenberg was brutally murdered, yet her killer remains unidentified. On March 23, 2007, Gorenberg was last seen leaving Town Center Mall in Boca Raton around 1:15 p.m. after purchasing a John Legend CD and a new top.
Less than an hour later, a 911 call reported gunshots and a body being pushed from a moving vehicle at Gov. Lawton Chiles Memorial Park, five miles from the mall. It was Gorenberg. Surveillance footage later captured her Mercedes SUV at a nearby hardware store, but the driver was never seen.
Detective William Springer believes the suspect may have tried to take Gorenberg to an ATM but became frustrated when she didn’t have a debit card. “We’re always looking at new DNA testing that might help bring this case to a successful conclusion,” Springer said.
Her mother, Idey Elias, still hopes for justice. “Maybe we can jog somebody’s memory,” she said. “In my mind, Randi is just away.”
Investigators urge anyone with information to come forward, hoping a new lead could finally solve this devastating case.
