A tragic accident on Saturday night in Cherokee County, South Carolina, has left one person dead and another injured. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened around 7:36 p.m. on Highway 5, near the town of Blacksburg.
According to officials, the accident involved a Chevrolet sedan and a large International 18-wheeler truck. The sedan was heading west while the truck was traveling east. The collision occurred when the sedan crossed over the center line and hit the truck head-on.
Sadly, the driver of the sedan, 46-year-old Charity Hope Smith from North Carolina, died at the scene. Authorities mentioned that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The truck driver, who was the only person in the truck, was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both drivers were traveling alone in their vehicles. The incident is a somber reminder of how quickly things can change on the road and highlights the importance of wearing a seatbelt.
