In Sidney, Maine, a tragic incident has shaken the community. A teenage boy was found dead outside a home, and police have charged a woman with murder.
Maine State Police say Megan McDonald, 39, was arrested Friday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. She now faces charges of murder related to this heartbreaking case.
It all started early Friday morning, around 5:27 a.m., when a woman showed up at the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office. She reported an incident at her home on Summerhaven Road in Sidney. Officers went to check on things and discovered the body of a 14-year-old boy outside the house.
Authorities quickly launched an investigation, and the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta performed an autopsy. The findings were grim—the boy’s death was ruled a homicide. The examiner determined that a combination of asphyxiation, manual strangulation, and sharp force injuries caused his death.
Meanwhile, the community at Messalonskee High School is in mourning. While police haven’t officially linked the death to the school, an email obtained by the media revealed that the high school is grieving the loss of one of its students. Carl Gartley, the superintendent for Regional School Unit 18, shared the sad news in the email but couldn’t release the student’s name due to the ongoing investigation.
Messalonskee High School, which serves Sidney and other nearby towns, is offering support to its students and families. Counseling sessions will be available at the school on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. to help anyone who is struggling with this devastating loss.
Megan McDonald is currently being held at the Kennebec Correctional Facility as the investigation continues. The tight-knit community is left grappling with this shocking event, seeking answers and trying to support one another during this difficult time.
