In Louisville, Kentucky, a man has been arrested for the tragic stabbing of a woman in the Okolona neighborhood. The suspect, Jamie Belton, 50, from South Carolina, is facing charges of murder related to domestic violence. The heartbreaking incident happened on January 4.
It all started around 2:30 in the afternoon when Louisville police got a call about a stabbing at a home on Red Cedar Way. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed several times. Sadly, she didn’t survive her injuries and passed away before she could be taken to the hospital.
According to the arrest report, things escalated quickly after an argument between Belton and the woman. The woman, sensing danger, told someone nearby to call 911. The witness tried to make the call but stopped when they saw Belton head into the kitchen and grab a knife.
In a desperate attempt to protect herself, the woman managed to wrestle the knife away from Belton and fought to fend him off. But then, Belton overpowered her, pushed her onto a couch, and stabbed her. The witness, terrified, ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help. Meanwhile, Belton fled the scene before the police arrived.
Later that same day, Kentucky State Police caught up with Belton. He was found at a rest stop along Interstate 64 in Midway, putting an end to his short-lived escape.
