A tragic shooting took place early Sunday morning in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, leaving a young woman dead.
According to the police, the incident happened around 5:25 a.m. in the 1800 block of East 79th Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found a 29-year-old woman lying unresponsive. She had suffered a gunshot wound to her chest.
Emergency responders quickly transported the woman to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Despite efforts to save her, she was later pronounced dead.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. The police have not released details about any suspects or possible motives. Area Four detectives are currently investigating the case.
