A wild high-speed chase ended in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, on Sunday, January 26, leading to the arrest of three people. It all started around 4:56 p.m. when deputies were alerted about a vehicle wanted for retail theft. An automated license plate reader flagged the car heading north on I-41 from Dodge County.
Deputies pulled the car over for a traffic stop, but things quickly escalated when the driver suddenly hit the gas and sped off, kicking off a 33-mile chase. Law enforcement sprang into action, using a tire deflation device to stop the fleeing vehicle. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the chase ended safely, with all three people in the car taken into custody.
The driver, a 36-year-old woman from Vermont, now faces some serious charges, including felony fleeing and eluding, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia. It turns out she also has a warrant from New Hampshire, though it isn’t valid in Wisconsin.
The front-seat passenger, a 40-year-old man from Pennsylvania, wasn’t off the hook either. He was arrested on charges of possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting or obstructing an officer. Authorities also discovered he had multiple warrants—one from Vermont, two from Pennsylvania, and one from New Jersey. Like the driver’s warrant, none of his were valid in Wisconsin.
Sitting in the back seat was a 41-year-old man, also from Vermont, who was arrested on charges of possessing cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and resisting or obstructing an officer.
Despite the chaotic chase, the suspect vehicle only suffered damage from the tire deflation device. No other damage or injuries were reported.
It’s another reminder of how quickly things can escalate on the road, but thanks to the quick work of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the situation was resolved without harm.
