A man in Kentucky has been arrested and charged after allegedly trapping his co-worker in a factory washroom filled with hot steam and chemicals. Authorities in Madisonville reported that the incident took place on Wednesday at a local factory where 23-year-old Barrett Korinta and the victim were employed.
According to police, the victim explained that she and Korinta were in the “rack washroom,” a facility designed to spray 200-degree steam and chemicals on trays. While inside, Korinta allegedly shut the door and latched it, intentionally preventing her from leaving. Moments later, he activated the machine, causing the room to fill with hot steam and chemicals.
The victim stated that she was able to locate and use an emergency shutoff switch before losing consciousness. However, she still suffered injuries and fell to the floor. Emergency responders transported her to the hospital, where she was treated for facial and head injuries, including a concussion.
Following the incident, Korinta was terminated from his job. Authorities later arrested him and charged him with wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment. He was booked into jail as the investigation continued.
