Share news:

Florida authorities arrested a man accused of beating another hotel guest to death with a fire extinguisher in a violent rampage after being kicked out of the hotel.

The incident happened last Wednesday at the Quality Inn in Kissimmee, located near Disney World. Deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the hotel on 2945 Entry Point Boulevard after receiving reports of an armed disturbance. When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Piero Estefano But-Castillo, a Chilean national, with blood covering his hands.

Tragically, 55-year-old Robert Krusinowski was discovered unresponsive, suffering severe injuries to his head, face, and neck. Paramedics tried to save him, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, But-Castillo had been staying at the hotel on a long-term basis. However, he was forced to check out on Wednesday and wasn’t allowed to extend his stay. This reportedly enraged him, leading to a violent outburst. Authorities said he began destroying property on the hotel’s third floor, smashing windows in rooms that were occupied at the time.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez explained in a video statement that Krusinowski, who lived at the hotel and often helped with maintenance, tried to calm the situation but ended up being attacked. Sheriff Lopez described the attack as a “brutal beating with the fire extinguisher.”

Witnesses and security camera footage showed the horrifying sequence of events. Investigators say But-Castillo slammed Krusinowski to the ground and repeatedly hit him with a fire extinguisher. He also punched and stomped on Krusinowski’s head while the victim appeared lifeless. Afterward, But-Castillo was seen dragging Krusinowski through a breezeway before continuing to kick and punch him.

Deputies arrived during the assault and immediately arrested But-Castillo. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held in the Osceola County Jail without bond.

Sheriff Lopez revealed that But-Castillo arrived in the United States on January 1 with a 90-day tourist visa. He had previously been in the country as a student in 2019 before returning to Chile.

The incident has left the local community shocked, especially those who knew Krusinowski as a helpful and kind presence at the hotel.
