In New Castle, Indiana, a 27-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly trying to suffocate his mother with plastic wrap during a heated argument over money. The man, identified as Dylan Moles, now faces serious charges, including attempted murder, aggravated battery, domestic battery, and strangulation.
According to court documents, the dramatic incident unfolded on Friday, November 29, around 4:15 p.m. Police were called to the scene after Moles’ mother frantically reported that her son was “beating on” her. She told officers that while she was sitting at her desk, Moles put her in a headlock, dragged her to a bedroom, and started attacking her. At one point, he reportedly wrapped plastic around her nose and mouth in an attempt to suffocate her. Police later found the plastic wrap discarded on the floor.
This wasn’t Moles’ first brush with the law recently. Just over a week earlier, on November 18, he had been arrested for criminal trespass and residential entry. He was released on bond on November 20 and had been staying with his mother since then.
The argument allegedly began when Moles accused his mother of stealing money from his CashApp account. Fueled by anger, he admitted to investigators that he wanted to hurt her to prove a point. “I wanted to show her I’m not a little boy and that she can’t push me around,” he reportedly told police. Moles also claimed he “did some damage” to his mother because of his jiujitsu skills. Despite his actions, he later insisted he “never intended to hurt her.”
Witnesses described Moles as calm when he left the house on foot after the attack. However, police quickly tracked him down at a nearby tobacco shop and arrested him. Meanwhile, his mother, who was in significant pain, was taken to a hospital for a potential skull fracture.
This disturbing story highlights how quickly domestic conflicts can escalate into violence, leaving families and communities shaken. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and Moles remains in custody as the legal process moves forward.
