December 6, 2024—An Indiana man, Dylan L. Moles, 27, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting his mother and attempting to suffocate her with plastic wrap in their New Castle home.
Incident Details
On November 29, 2024, Moles confronted his mother, accusing her of stealing $1,000 from his CashApp account. The confrontation escalated when Moles allegedly attacked her from behind, punching her in the head, placing her in a headlock, and dragging her to a bed where he attempted to suffocate her with plastic wrap. The victim sustained visible injuries and was transported to Ball Memorial Hospital with a possible skull fracture.
Arrest and Charges
Moles fled the scene but was apprehended shortly thereafter near a discount tobacco store. He reportedly admitted to planning the attack to “convince her that he was not a little boy and that she couldn’t push him around.” Moles has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, domestic battery, and strangulation.
Legal Proceedings
Court records indicate that Moles has a lengthy criminal history, with multiple charges between 2017 and 2024. He was released on a $350 cash bond on November 18 for charges of residential entry and criminal trespass. As of December 6, he remains in custody awaiting trial.
This incident underscores the critical importance of addressing domestic violence and ensuring the safety of individuals within their own homes.
