JD Vance Grilled Over Soaring Grocery Prices in Fiery Interview

Share news:

Vice President JD Vance recently sat down for a tough interview on CBS’s Face the Nation, where the topic of rising grocery prices took center stage. Host Margaret Brennan wasn’t shy about pressing him on the promises made during the campaign by both him and President Trump—specifically, the vow to slash grocery prices for Americans.

When asked which of Trump’s 20-plus executive orders from his first week would help ease the burden on shoppers, Vance gave a rather vague answer.

“We’ve done a lot already,” he began, focusing on job creation and capital investment. “That’s key to driving down prices and also increasing wages, so people can actually afford the things they need.”

However, Brennan quickly pointed out, “So grocery prices aren’t going to come down right away?”

Vance, with a bit of a spicy tone, responded, “No, Margaret, they will come down, but it’ll take some time. The president’s been in office for only five days. In that time, he’s done more than Joe Biden did in four years.”

He went on to talk about how energy policies and tapping into U.S. energy reserves would eventually bring down everyday costs, especially when it comes to gas and groceries.

“Energy prices shot up under the Biden administration,” Vance explained. “But with Trump’s executive actions, we’re going to see lower energy prices. And yes, that means lower prices at the pump and in the grocery store—just give it time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

But Brennan wasn’t the only one questioning these promises. On Sunday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and other Democratic lawmakers sent a letter to Trump asking why, after promising to lower food prices immediately, his first week in office focused more on issues like mass deportations and pardoning January 6th attackers.

The letter pointed out the gap between Trump’s promises during the campaign and his first week in office.

In the meantime, Vance remains confident that relief is on the way, even if it takes a little longer than promised. Stay tuned, because it looks like there’s more to come on this front!
