A 23-year-old woman from Texas, Tatyana Evans, has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing her boyfriend, Geovanni Montague, after finding text messages from another woman on his phone.
The incident happened in Houston, and Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed Evans was taken into custody on February 11. Montague, 28, was found dead on the street near his home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He lived in the Oak Grove apartment complex with his mother.
According to reports, Evans and Montague were in a troubled relationship. Investigators believe the shooting may have been fueled by jealousy. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots on February 9, around the time a surveillance video showed Evans leaving the scene.
Police say that the couple had a history of violence. Montague’s mother told investigators that Evans had previously hurt her son and that he had filed a police report in December 2024 after she allegedly threatened him. However, it is unclear if any charges were filed at that time.
Authorities learned that Evans spent several hours at Montague’s apartment the day before the shooting. Later, Montague called her, saying he had left his phone in her car. When Evans checked his phone, she allegedly found messages from another woman, which led to the deadly confrontation.
During questioning, Evans reportedly confessed to shooting Montague. In a court hearing, she was reprimanded by the judge for interrupting. The judge stated, “You claimed Mr. Montague grabbed at you… but you then shot him five or six times.”
Montague was a decorated Army veteran and was working for Amazon at the time of his death.
Evans’ bond has been set at $250,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court again on April 3.
