A 47-year-old man from Waukegan, Illinois, has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago in 2022.
Authorities say Miguel Gonzalez was taken into custody on Wednesday after being linked to the incident that occurred on October 22, 2022. According to the Illinois State Police, Gonzalez is accused of firing gunshots at another vehicle while traveling northbound on Interstate 90 near Fullerton Avenue at around 4:30 a.m.
One of the bullets struck a driver, who was later taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, the victim survived the attack.
Following an investigation, Gonzalez was charged with multiple serious offenses. He faces one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm. These charges reflect the severity of the incident and the potential danger it posed to other motorists.
After his arrest, Gonzalez was taken into custody and is currently being held until his next court appearance. Officials have not yet provided further details about the possible motive behind the shooting or how they identified Gonzalez as a suspect.
