A photo shared by Vice President Kamala Harris from Jimmy Carter’s funeral is making waves—and it’s all about who isn’t in it.
While President-elect Donald Trump was at the ceremony alongside the other living presidents on Thursday, he was noticeably absent from Harris’ post. The photo showed Harris, President Joe Biden, and former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama placing their hands over their hearts. However, Trump, who was seated next to Obama, didn’t make the cut in the official post shared on Harris’ social media.
Some followers couldn’t help but notice the omission, especially after the heated 2024 presidential election between Biden and Trump. “Best photo crop of the decade,” one follower quipped. Another added, “I immediately laughed when I saw this image. I love a good cropped photo.”
The Carter Center also seemed to leave Trump out of the spotlight, with several photos from the funeral posted on X (formerly Twitter) that didn’t include him or incoming First Lady Melania Trump.
In her post, Harris shared a heartfelt message about President Carter, calling him someone who “loved our country, lived his faith, served the people, and left the world better than he found it.” She also mentioned that Carter’s many contributions “will echo for generations to come.”
While we don’t know for sure if Trump’s exclusion was intentional, the photo and social media reaction have definitely gotten people talking.
So, who did attend the funeral? Alongside Harris and Biden, all five living former presidents were present to pay their respects. This included Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. Former and current vice presidents, as well as several notable figures like Jill Biden and Melania Trump, were also in attendance.
Carter, who passed away on December 29 at the age of 100, was deeply admired for his long and impactful life of service. President Biden declared January 9 as a national day of mourning in his honor.
The funeral was an important moment for the nation, but it’s the photo that’s really making headlines. What do you think—was it a simple oversight or something more?
