OMAHA, Neb. – A violent altercation in South Omaha led to a shooting on Sunday morning, leaving one man injured and another in police custody.
According to the Omaha Police Department, officers responded to a report of an armed individual near 11th and Center streets shortly after 11:30 a.m. Shortly thereafter, a second call came in regarding a shooting just a block away at 12th and Center. Authorities confirmed that both incidents were connected.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, sustained gunshot wounds following a dispute and was rushed to Nebraska Medicine. Fortunately, his injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.
Police quickly identified and arrested 32-year-old Detroit Afusia in connection with the shooting. Afusia now faces charges of first-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
