A man has been charged with making a bomb hoax after an incident outside the U.S. Embassy in London last week. Daniel Parmenter, 43, was arrested on Sunday following a search of his home. He appeared in court on Monday and was remanded in custody. He is set to appear again at the Old Bailey on December 23.
Police have said that there is no connection between this case and other recent incidents involving suspicious packages.
On the same day as the embassy incident, a security alert at Gatwick Airport was quickly resolved when a bomb disposal team investigated a suspicious item found in luggage. The next day, police carried out a controlled explosion near Euston train station after finding a suspect package.
Thankfully, both situations were handled safely.
