A 48-year-old man from Hackensack, New Jersey, has been arrested for having child sexual abuse materials, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.
Jonathan J. Gavin, who lives in Hackensack, was taken into custody on December 16, 2024, after authorities discovered that he was in possession of items showing nude and sexually explicit images of young children, both prepubescent and pubescent.
Gavin now faces serious charges of third-degree possession of child pornography and has been placed in the Bergen County Jail. He is awaiting his first court appearance at the Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
Prosecutor Musella expressed gratitude towards the Hackensack Police Department and the New York City Police Department for their support in this case.
He also acknowledged the help from the Paramus, Washington Township, and Hasbrouck Heights Police Departments, all of which work together in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child exploitation and keep our communities safe.
