A Coweta County man has been arrested after investigators uncovered what they called “very disturbing” videos involving children.
The 34-year-old, Jesse Crutchfield, was taken into custody after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sparked an investigation. The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received the tip, which suggested Crutchfield might have been in possession of illegal material showing children being abused.
Detectives dug into Crutchfield’s online activities and eventually secured arrest warrants. When officers arrived at his home, Crutchfield didn’t put up a fight. In fact, reports say he walked out of the house, placed his hands behind his back, and seemed to know why they were there.
Crutchfield, who works at a local restaurant in Coweta County, now faces four counts of sexual exploitation of children. He’s currently being held without bond at the Coweta County Jail. Investigators have also confiscated all his electronic devices, which are being closely examined for more evidence. Depending on what they find, he could be facing additional charges.
This arrest is part of the ongoing work by the Coweta County ICAC Unit, which teams up with groups like the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to track down those involved in online crimes against children.
In a related case, authorities recently arrested 51-year-old Craig Allan Jacobson, a grandfather in Coweta County, on similar charges. His arrest came after the GBI tipped off investigators.
The sheriff’s office says they’re committed to finding and stopping individuals involved in these types of crimes, and they continue to work with state and national organizations to protect children from harm.
