A man from Seneca Falls is facing serious charges after allegedly trying to bribe a police officer. According to authorities, 24-year-old Marquise Hatten got into trouble after reaching out to an officer on Halloween. His goal? Reportedly offering money to the officer in hopes they’d use their position to get some previous charges against him dropped. Instead of taking the bait, the officer turned him in.
This led to Hatten being charged with felony bribery. But this isn’t the only legal trouble he’s been dealing with recently.
Back in October, Hatten was one of two people arrested during a Child Protective Services (CPS) visit to a home. During that visit, police allegedly found firearms that weren’t locked up, making them easily accessible to a 3-year-old child. Authorities say the weapons were not stored securely and didn’t have gun locks, which is a violation of New York State’s Safe Storage Act. Hatten was also charged with resisting arrest during the same incident.
It’s important to note that charges are just accusations at this point. Hatten, like anyone else, is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
