Cherokee County, Georgia – Deputies in Cherokee County are asking for your help in tracking down a man wanted for multiple retail crimes across metro Atlanta and beyond.

For over a year, authorities have been searching for 50-year-old George Frank Mayo. Investigators say Mayo has several warrants out for his arrest, not only in Georgia—where counties like Cherokee, Cook, Gwinnett, Douglas, Forsyth, Hall, Fulton, and DeKalb are looking for him—but also in Louisiana and New Jersey.

Here’s what we know so far. Mayo is described as being six feet tall and weighing about 210 pounds. He has tattoos on both arms, his chest, and his back, as well as a scar on one arm. According to deputies, he has a history of obstructing law enforcement and a record of violence, making his capture a priority.

The last confirmed sighting of Mayo was on October 6, 2023, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When officers attempted to apprehend him, Mayo managed to escape and hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Investigators are currently at a standstill, unsure of where he might be hiding.

If you happen to spot Mayo or have any information about his whereabouts, authorities urge you not to approach him but to contact them immediately. You can call 911, the Canton Police Department at (770) 720-4883, or the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office at (678) 493-4251.

Your tips could be the key to helping law enforcement bring this case to a close.
