Authorities in Southern California have uncovered an enormous stash of marijuana worth more than $100 million during a major drug bust.
The discovery was made on Dec. 9, when deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation at a property on Honeyhill Road in Oak Hills. The five-acre property featured a massive 120-by-40-foot metal building, which appeared newly constructed.
Inside, investigators were stunned to find over 3,000 trash bags stuffed with processed marijuana. The bags, weighing between 30 and 50 pounds each, were stacked as high as 12 feet, completely filling the building.
Over the course of two days, teams from the Marijuana Enforcement Unit, San Bernardino County Code Enforcement, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife worked to remove the massive haul. In total, they seized 51 truckloads of marijuana, which weighed an estimated 90,000 pounds.
The marijuana’s street value is estimated to exceed $100 million, officials reported.
So far, investigators haven’t released any information about the building’s owner or potential suspects linked to the illegal operation. No arrests have been made, and authorities are continuing to look into the case.
