A 49-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning, December 24, after a shooting inside a home in Mount Vernon left two men injured. The incident happened on South 3rd Street and startled the quiet neighborhood.
The victims, a 50-year-old man and a 53-year-old man, were quickly taken to Skagit Valley Hospital, where doctors treated them for injuries that weren’t life-threatening, according to the Mount Vernon Police.
It all started around 9 a.m. when officers were called to a house on the 1600 block of South 3rd Street after someone reported gunshots. When they arrived, they found the two injured men and the suspect outside the home. A gun was also discovered at the scene.
Inside the house, another person shared a chilling account. He said the suspect, who knew the two victims and him, had pointed the gun at him too. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt.
The suspect is now in Skagit County Jail, facing serious charges, including two counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree assault. It’s a shocking event for the local community, reminding everyone to stay vigilant and supportive of one another.
