A man from Cicero has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing a woman over the weekend.
Bobby Thornton, 35, is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman, according to Chicago police.
The incident happened early Sunday morning. Around 6 a.m., officers responded to a call for a well-being check in the 7600 block of South Ingleside Avenue. When they arrived, they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm.
Emergency responders rushed her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released her name.
Police recovered a firearm at the scene, and Thornton was taken into custody about 20 minutes after the shooting.
Thornton appeared in court for a detention hearing on Tuesday as the investigation continues.
