A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting Monday evening on Chicago’s Near West Side, police said.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 1900 block of West Ogden Avenue. The teen was shot in the torso but managed to get himself to Stroger Hospital. As of now, he’s in serious condition, according to police.
This shooting came just 20 minutes after another tragic incident about a mile away. A 51-year-old man was shot and killed on the 2000 block of West Randolph Street.
At this point, no arrests have been made, and police haven’t shared details about any suspects in either case.
Both shootings have left the community shaken, with many wondering what led to the violence in such a short span of time. Authorities are continuing to investigate, and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
This is a developing story, and updates are expected as police find more evidence.
