In Grantville, Georgia, a woman is recovering after being struck by a stray bullet, which officials believe came from celebratory gunfire on New Year’s Eve.
The incident occurred just after midnight on Canterbury Drive. According to the Grantville Police Department, the woman was driving when a bullet pierced through the top of her windshield and hit her leg.
Emergency medics rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment for her injury. Thankfully, doctors say she is expected to recover.
Police suspect the bullet was fired into the air as part of New Year’s Eve celebrations, based on the angle at which it entered her car. These dangerous actions, often done without thought, can have serious consequences.
“This kind of behavior is not only illegal but extremely dangerous,” the police department emphasized in a social media post. They are urging the community to come forward with any information that could help identify who fired the shot.
