Bryan, TX – A Bryan police officer was shot Saturday night at the Sandy Creek Apartment Complex, leading to the arrest of four individuals following an extensive search, authorities confirmed.
The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. when the officer, on routine patrol, spotted 18-year-old Quincy McMiller displaying a handgun. As the officer approached, McMiller allegedly fired from inside a vehicle, hitting the officer in the arm. Despite the injury, the officer was quickly transported to a hospital, treated, and later released.
Following the shooting, McMiller and three other suspects, including 16-year-old Qwanell McMiller and two juveniles, fled the scene. The suspects led police on a tense, hours-long manhunt before being located in a wooded area near 22nd Street and Hall Street around 9:40 p.m. A police drone was used to track them down, and officers moved in swiftly to apprehend them.
Authorities have charged Quincy McMiller with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of deadly conduct. Qwanell McMiller and the two juveniles face charges of evading arrest, with one juvenile also charged with drug possession.
The Texas Municipal Police Association released a statement, calling the shooting a stark reminder of the daily risks officers face. “Thankfully, the officer was treated and released, but this highlights the dangers our officers encounter while protecting the community,” the statement read.
The suspects were transported to the Bryan Police Department for questioning, where one adult reportedly admitted to firing at the officer. The investigation remains ongoing.
