A man in Ohio reportedly called 911 on New Year’s Day to confess that he had killed his girlfriend, then led police on a car chase, saying he wanted to “have some fun” before ending his own life.
Stanley Casimir, whose age hasn’t been shared, made the chilling call on the night of January 1. According to the police, he told the dispatcher, “I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her.” Moments later, more 911 calls came pouring in from others who reported a shooting outside an apartment complex in Springfield, Ohio. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman lying on the sidewalk. She had been shot and was pronounced dead.
One of the callers who reached out to 911 was the victim’s sister. She told dispatchers that Casimir had previously threatened to harm the woman after their recent breakup.
Casimir later called 911 again, this time from a parking lot at a Kroger grocery store in Springfield. He reportedly told the dispatcher that he had a gun on his lap and admitted to shooting his girlfriend several times after an argument. The couple shared 5-month-old twin babies, and he claimed he was upset because she had kicked him out of the house the night before. During the call, he also hinted at his next move, saying, “We just going to have some fun before I kill myself. That’s it.” When asked what he meant, he replied, “I don’t know. I have no idea. Alright, bye,” before abruptly ending the call.
Officers quickly arrived at the Kroger parking lot, but Casimir sped off in his vehicle, leading police on a chase heading south on U.S. 68. The chase came to an abrupt and tragic end when Casimir’s car crashed. According to the police, he had shot himself in the head before the crash occurred.
Casimir was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to a trauma center for further treatment. As of January 2, he remained hospitalized with his condition not disclosed.
The shocking series of events left the Springfield community shaken, especially as more details about the victim and her tragic end continue to emerge.
