In Omaha, Nebraska, a simple theft report turned into a major discovery involving a serious crime. On Monday, police responded to a reported theft at the AmericInn motel near South 15th and Spring Street. What started as a routine investigation quickly took a darker turn when officers found two minors who appeared to be victims of sex trafficking.
This alarming discovery prompted the Omaha Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to work together over the next two days. Their efforts led to the arrest of six suspects, all now facing serious charges.
The individuals arrested include Vishalgir Goswami, 31; Eduardo Perdomo, 36; Alfredo Zambrano-Hurtado, 24; Sumit Chaudhari, 23; Kavankumar Patel, 26; and Michel Martinez-Gonzalez, 28. All six were charged with at least one count of sex trafficking of a minor.
The investigation also revealed additional crimes. Chaudhari and Patel are accused of first-degree sexual assault of a minor. Perdomo faces charges related to child pornography, and Martinez-Gonzalez has been charged with fleeing to avoid arrest.
This case has highlighted the need for ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable children. Authorities continue to investigate, ensuring justice is served and support is provided to the victims. This serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement.
