Philadelphia, PA – In a shocking case of road rage, a man opened fire on two innocent victims— a 15-year-old boy and a 20-year-old woman— during a heated altercation at a busy Philadelphia intersection. The terrifying incident took place on Monday, March 10, at 42nd and Girard Ave, leaving the community on edge as police hunt for the suspect.
Gunfire Erupts Over Road Rage
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the suspect, described as a 40- to 45-year-old male, was driving a silver 2016 or 2017 Honda Civic when he engaged in an argument with the victims. Surveillance footage captured the moment the suspect leaned out of his window, appearing to yell at the occupants of a black-colored vehicle. Moments later, as the cars reached a stoplight, the man pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots before speeding away.
The 15-year-old victim was struck in the left arm, while the 20-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the chest. The teen was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, while the woman arrived at Lankenau Medical Center in a private vehicle. Thankfully, both are in stable condition.
Manhunt Underway
Authorities have yet to make an arrest or recover the weapon used in the shooting. However, they have released crucial details about the suspect’s vehicle, which has visible damage to both front quarter panels, a missing passenger-side front hubcap, and a white vanity tag on the front bumper.
The Philadelphia Police Department urges anyone with information to call 215-686-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymous tip. They also warn the public not to approach the suspect, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
A Night of Violence in Philadelphia
This chilling road rage attack was just one of at least five separate shootings in Philadelphia between Monday night and Tuesday morning, leaving seven people wounded.
Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore remains optimistic about solving the cases, stating, “Our clearance rate is up from last year… We are having a lot of success using technology and surveillance footage to bring these criminals to justice.”
As authorities intensify their search, the city grapples with yet another senseless act of gun violence.
