President Biden Becomes a Proud Great-Grandfather as Naomi Biden Welcomes Baby Boy

President Joe Biden has a special reason to smile today – he’s officially a great-grandfather! The proud moment arrived on Wednesday with the birth of his eldest granddaughter’s first child.

Speaking at a news conference in California, President Biden shared the news: “I’m a great-grandfather as of today. A baby boy. So I’ll remember this day.”

First Lady Jill Biden also joined in the celebration, posting a heartwarming photo of the couple with their great-grandson. The little one has been named William Brannon Neal, IV, a name that carries deep significance. It’s a tribute to Peter Neal’s late brother, who tragically passed away in 2009.

The birth of Baby William marks a special moment for the Biden family. Naomi Biden, the 31-year-old daughter of Hunter Biden, shared her pregnancy news with the world last November. Her announcement came on Election Day, sparking excitement for the new chapter in the Biden family’s life. Naomi, who married Peter Neal at the White House in 2022, made history as the first grandchild of a sitting president to marry there.

President Biden, who has seven grandchildren, often mentions how he stays close to his family and stays in touch with them regularly. In fact, he told USA Today that Naomi was scheduled to have a Cesarean section on Wednesday and couldn’t hide his excitement: “I’m about to be a great-grandfather, Jesus God!”

Amid the joy, the President also reflected on his son Hunter Biden’s struggles with addiction. Last month, President Biden pardoned Hunter and talked about how well he’s doing now, mentioning his art career and involvement in prevention programs. He added with a smile, “He’s doing really well, and the family’s doing well.”

The conversation also turned to the future as President Biden gears up to leave office later this month. When asked about the possibility of running for re-election against Donald Trump, he mentioned that he believed he could have won, but wasn’t certain about having the energy to serve another four years. “So far, so good. But who knows what I’ll be like when I’m 86 years old?” he joked.

This moment of family joy is a reminder of the personal milestones we all experience, even amid the hustle and bustle of public life.
