Revealed: FBI Releases 2,400 Secret JFK Assassination Records

Share news:

The FBI has discovered 2,400 hidden records connected to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. This discovery came after an executive order from former President Donald Trump, who demanded that all remaining documents be released. The newly found files, containing about 14,000 pages, had never been reviewed by official investigators. This raises concerns about how the government has handled the case over the years.

How the Files Were Found

The FBI explained that in 2020, it started transferring and organizing case files from different offices across the country. With new technology, they were able to search for documents more efficiently. This led to the unexpected discovery of records linked to Kennedy’s assassination.

After Trump’s latest executive order, issued on January 23, 2025, the FBI conducted another search. As a result, they found the previously overlooked files and are now working to send them to the National Archives for public release.

What Experts Are Saying

Jefferson Morley, vice president of the Mary Ferrell Foundation, which collects JFK-related records, said this is a major discovery. He believes the FBI is finally making a real effort to follow the order instead of keeping secrets.

So far, the contents of these newly found files have not been revealed. Trump’s goal in ordering the release of these documents is to end the long-running speculation about Kennedy’s murder. Many people have questioned whether Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone or if there was a larger conspiracy.

A History of Delayed Releases

The JFK Records Act of 1992 required that all assassination-related documents be made public by 2017. However, during his presidency, Trump held back some files on the advice of the CIA. He later admitted that he regretted that decision.

President Joe Biden allowed a partial release of documents, but no major new information was found. Now, Trump has ordered that all remaining documents, including those related to the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., be fully released by March 9.

Will All Files Be Released?

Despite Trump’s promise that “everything will be revealed,” intelligence agencies are still pushing for heavy redactions. This means that some information might still be hidden from the public, frustrating both Trump and those who support full transparency.

Many believe these files could finally bring clarity to one of the most debated events in American history. For now, the world waits to see what secrets they contain.
