A road rage incident that happened last year on Patton Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina, has reached a conclusion in court. The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office shared that Levi Michael has pleaded guilty to several charges tied to the 2023 shooting.
The chaotic situation unfolded when officers responded to reports of a shooting. They arrived to find a man who had been shot in the hip. Michael was taken into custody at the scene.
Fast forward to December 2, 2024, Michael admitted to his role in the incident. He pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, and misdemeanor simple assault.
The judge handed down a sentence of 36 months, but here’s the twist: it’s a suspended term of imprisonment, meaning he won’t go to prison right away. Instead, he faces a probation period during which he must follow strict rules. Part of this probation includes spending 14 days in jail, but the timing of those days will be up to his probation officer.
This case serves as a reminder of how a moment of anger on the road can lead to serious consequences. For the victim and everyone involved, it’s been a long journey to justice.
